Our Catholic Challenge for this week is a book review by Dave from Wisconsin. He reviews the Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. Nick also adds his thoughts about the Snakebite Letters.

In this episode, we have two special guests: Dan and Kyle from Popple, one of our favorite bands. They are working on releasing a new CD, which has been unnamed until now. On the show, they reveal the new name and have an excerpt of a song from the CD to play for us. In the interview, we get the opportunity to ask them a number of questions including “What’s up with the Contra code in your song?”
To start off, we have a lot of news. Did you know that they have a special mass just for judges? It’s called a red mass and one was recently celebrated for the six Catholic judges that sit on the Supreme court. We talk about how Google is celebrating the 57th anniversary of the bar code by changing their logo and what to do if you are a Linux lover and also have a baby. (Hint: someone made a youtube video.) How green are your practices? In this epsode, we talk with Rick Beckler at Sacred Heart Hospital. Rick is known for helping the hospital to look at its own practices and make them more environmentally conscious. In our interview, Rick gives us some practical tips on how we can be more green in our own habits and practices.
To start off the show, we talk about a new TV show that you may have heard about. It’s called Flashforward and is the new primetime hit on ABC. We’re hoping to talk a little bit more about the show on an upcoming podcast. Additionally, Pat has found a great video that was done all in one take by 172 college students. In this episode we have a special guest, Bill Scholl, from the Office of Social Justice for the Archdiocese of Kansas City, KS. He joined us to experience a podcast and to talk with us about the Year for Priests. To begin the show, we start off with our 3 Js and two new “What’s My Line?” calls.
In “Help, I’m Fallen,” we talk about the year for priests, the theme for this liturgical year that was announced by Pope Benedict XVI on June 24, 2009. We talk about St. John Vianney, who is now the patron of all priests and Bill lets us know that he is the only diocesan priest to have been declared a saint.

Pat and Nick are back this week with part two of their interview with Fr. Tom Tank about the sacrament of reconciliation.

The big feature of this show is the second part of our interview with Fr. Tom. In this interview, he talks about the healing power of reconciliation and how making use of the sacrament helps us maintain our mental health.
