Happy New Year! It’s that time of year again where everyone does a summary show of the past year. We’ve decided not to do that—we’re doing a wrap-up show. We talk about our favorite episodes from this past year and take the opportunity to thank all our listeners.

To start off the show, we’ve got a great piece of feedback from our friend Dave in Wisconsin and Pat talks about his love of his Flip video. According to Nick, Pat wouldn’t put the camera down even while they were recording.

We have definitely had a lot of interesting guests on our show. Among our favorite episodes is our interview with Mike Hayes, episode 23, Popple, episode 20 and the SQPN simulcast, episode 10. Take a listen to this episode as we highlight some of our favorite episodes and provide some commentary on them.

Merry Christmas! It’s time for a recap of Advent and to celebrate the birth of Jesus. In this episode, we talk about or family traditions and hear from one of our listeners, Jen. One of our favorite thing that our family does each year is to go sack groceries for needy families. This year, the organization we work with plans to give out 1,500 meals this Christmas!

In our news, we talk about a new project that Christopher West and Mike Mangione have been working on called “Fill These Hearts.” It’s a combination of reflective music, live art and a study of the Theology of the Body. Finally, we talk briefly about the healthcare bill that passed in the senate. Feeling creative? Our guest this week is Fr. Jim Tucker, the host of the Catholic Creativity Podcast. The Catholic Creativity Podcast attempts to melt popular culture and theology for use in the living the Gospel out in the world. We share a ton of feedback, discuss the SQPN Giving Campaign, and in the news Nick tells us about a new iPhone app called Airlock.

To start off the show, we have some great lines to use, including one about loving shortnin’ bread. For the news, we talk about a great new piece of software that Nick found called Airlock and Wired Magazine’s contest to name the new earth-type planet that was found this week.

Let’s learn about some delicious holiday food! We have Jeff Young, the Catholic Foodie on the show to talk about Christmas cooking and yummy food. Jeff shares some recipies and some thoughts about bringing your family together at the table for Christmas. We also discuss our favorite holiday movies, along with some exciting SQPN news and the SQPN Giving Campaign.

After the 3 J’s we talk about the What’s My Line segment. Nick and Pat forgot to fit in Barb in Nebraska’s land Greg from Kentucky’s lines from last week… Jeff helps us out with fitting them in while Nick goes a little crazy with the bell and the buzzer.

Episode #28 – Affluenza

Have you ever caught yourself “keeping up with the Joneses?” It’s something that happens to the best of us. We have Bill Scholl, the social justice consultant for our archdiocese, on the show to talk to us about “affluenza” and how it affects our society. We feel that it is a very important topic as we move into the holiday season.
